Tallinn is the beautiful capital city of Estonia, situated on the shore of the Baltic Sea. First established in the early medieval era, today’s Tallinn is an exciting mix of old and new. Here’s the good news: with Tallinn being such a compact, green capital, you can cover a lot in just a weekend and enjoy short scenic strolls while at it. Tallinn’s luring coastline dotted with promenades and sandy beaches is especially rewarding during the summer but offers scenic views of the iconic cityscape throughout the year.
Tallinn Old Town is one of the best preserved Hanseatic town centres in the world. Being filled with medieval houses and alleyways Tallinn Old Town is still protected by the remnants of the city wall. The wealth of architecture in Tallinn means that there are many legends and stories to explore. In addition to the city’s medieval core, newly revamped districts such as Noblessner, Telliskivi, and Rotermann are popping up at lightspeed, offering even more cool architecture to explore. A stone’s throw away you’ll find the city’s business centre with modern towers and luxurious hotels, trendy neighbourhoods and large shopping centres.

Participants are expected to make their own travel arrangements. It takes only up to 10 minutes to get from the Tallinn Airport to the centrally located hotel by taxi, and vice versa. However, during certain hours (between 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. on business days) it would be advisable to plan for longer travel times in case of traffic jams. Taxis are available 24/7 at taxi stops located in front of the airport building and the hotel. The estimated fare for the 10 minute taxi ride would be around 10-12 Euros. You are entitled to request the receipt from the driver. Expenses, such as hotel and travel costs, will not be reimbursed by the conference organizers.

If you wish to visit only Estonia, the Schengen visa has to be applied for at the Estonian representation or at the representation of the member state representing Estonia in issuing Schengen visas.
If the visit includes more than one Schengen member state, or if several separate visits are to be carried out within a period of two months, the application must be lodged at the representation of the main destination. The main destination is understood to be the destination where you intend to spend the longest time or where the main purpose of the intended journey is carried out.
If you wish to visit several Schengen member states and you are not sure of the state of main destination or plan to spend the equal number of days in each state, the visa must be applied for at the representation of the state through which the visa applicant intends to enter the Schengen area.

Republic of Estonia is a country by the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe that has been an independent state since 1918, shortly interrupted by the half a century long Soviet occupation following the World War II. Estonia restored its independence in 1991, known as The Singing Revolution that was inspired by the more than century-old song festival tradition.
Population density in Estonia is 30.3 people per km². That is almost four times less than EU’s average – 116.7 people per km² –, making Estonia the third sparsely populated country in EU. About 1.1 million people speak Estonian, one of the world’s smallest official national languages.
Today’s Estonia is a thriving and forward-looking member state of EU and NATO, where you can vote online and start your own business in less than half an hour. Many have done so already, including the founders of Skype and Wise.
